Solvay Bank Robbery 628 Main St. North, Syracuse

Friday morning June 15, 2012, shortly before 9 a.m. North Syracuse Police Officer Jeff Tripp was dispatched to the Solvay Bank for a reported robbery. Officer Tripp arrived within a couple mintues, secured the bank as a crime scene, observed video tape pictures of the suspect and immediately notified the 911 center of the suspect information.  The 911 Center immediately broadcast Officer Tripp’s suspect information to adjacent law enforcement agencies, Sheriff’s Deputies and State Police patrols.

Chief Peverly requested the Sheriff’s Office continue follow-up of the investigation so we could return our North Syracuse Officers to patrol in our community.  Sheriff Walsh assigned a combination of several uniformed patrol deputies, evidence technicians and dectives to continue the investigation.  Early in the afternoon Sheriff’s Dectives notified Chief Peverly the suspect had been positively identified and later Friday evening the suspect was arrested.

Chief Peverly attributed the quick response and initial information gathered by Officer Tripp as being instrumental in the Sheriff’s Office’s continued investigation resulting in a quick arrest.  The coordination of police resources of the North Syracuse Police Department and Sheriff’s Office served our community very well.
